Suzie’s Mixing Bowl Voted BEST CAKES in the Lehigh Valley
At the recent “Feast of Sweets”, Suzie’s Mixing Bowl was voted as having
the BEST CAKES in the Lehigh Valley in a People’s Choice competition,
leading a group of twelve of the finest bake shops in the area.
On Sunday, September 17, 2006 WLVT - PBS 39 held their first annual
“Feast of Sweets” at the Candlelight Reception and Conference Center in
Bethlehem, PA; a decadent affair in which a number of local Lehigh Valley
bakeries were invited to a good old-fashioned “Bake Off”. Each was
expected to bring their finest treats to be sampled and enjoyed by
hundreds of PBS-39 viewers who would then vote for their favorites.
Categories for the event included Cakes, Pastries, Cookies, Candies and
Coffee, with each baker allowed to place an entry in only one area. The
sights and smells were overwhelming for many, as rarely can one be
surrounded by such a vast array of delicious treats in one place.
But tasting was the name of the game – and taste they did; hundreds of
“amateur experts” with a craving for dessert came, saw and sampled the
smorgasbord of sweet-tooth satisfiers. At the end of the day, the cards
were tallied and the people had voted – Suzie’s had the Best Cakes in the
Lehigh Valley, with the top award going to her Triple Chocolate Brownie
Cake, topped with a Chocolate Ganache and a dollop of Chocolate
Hazelnut Icing. A mouthful to be sure, but a supremely satisfying
confection nonetheless.
“It’s really satisfying”, said Suzie of her win. “We’ve been open for about a
year and a half and the response and reception from our customers has
been great – many of them came out today to support us. Being voted the
People’s Choice for Best Cake tells me we’re definitely doing something
right. I couldn’t be happier!”
